sugar free challenge day 2Day 2 of my 5 days with no sugar was a lot more routine. I spent the day at the office and then went to watch my daughter play basketball. I also got back on my normal routine of Ningxia Red in the morning and then lunch and dinner. The basketball game was going to put me home a little later than normal so I stopped and picked up a healthy snack at a drug store on the way to the game (raisins).

At breakfast, I just had 2 oz. of Ningxia Red and approx. 32 oz water.

In the late afternoon while watching my daughter’s basketball game I had some raisins and a Cherry Pie Lara Bar. If you haven’t tried a Lara Bar before they are quite good. All natural ingredients and no added sugar. Cherry Pie is made of just Dates, Almonds, and Unsweetened Cherries. I also had 1/2 cup of raisins.

I managed to make it through another day without eating any added sugar. I haven’t had any of the withdrawal symptoms that people talk about when you try to quit sugar, but I did have over 80g of natural sugar today so that may be why.

My totals for the day ended at:

  • 1,075 calories
  • 99g Protein (37%)
  • 19g Fat (16%)
  • 120g Carbohydrates (45%)

Overall, I’m pretty happy with the breakdown as my personal goal is somewhere around 40% Protein and Carbs with around 20% fat. I didn’t feel hungry today and thought I had added a lot of extra calories with my snack, but the total was still quite low. I would like my total calories for the day to be around 2,000-2,500.

Oh, and she lost the game. It was close and the team played tough to the end but ended up losing by 5.
