I was really sore today… and it was cold outside… and rainy… lots of opportunities to make excuses, but the beauty of having a 5-day challenge like this is that I really feel compelled to just keep pushing through. I just keep saying to myself “I can do anything for 5 days”.
Today’s Tabata was:
- Jumping Jacks
- Standing Shoulder Fly (started with 5-pound dumbbells but dropped them half way through as I wasn’t able to keep up a good pace)
The hardest of these for me was definitely the Jumping Jacks. I really didn’t think it would be so hard to do jumping jacks, but by the time I got to the 4th set I was barely able to keep going the 20 seconds. I was exhausted after that set and was glad the other two I picked were not running or jumping. I felt the same with the Burpees – I definitely think that exercises focusing on moving the whole body are the best type to use for this (even if they are my least favorite.) I’m going to challenge myself to do both Jumping Jacks and Burpees in my final workout to see if I can improve.
I also did my second workout of the day – Cardio Boxing with my Moov. I did the “Semi-Pro” level again even though I’m not quite able to do all the combos. I really wish I hadn’t as I was not able to keep my hands at my face by the end. Frankly, I think I should add a “keep my hands up” Tabata – I’m not sure I can do it for the 8 rounds. Here are the level descriptions from the Moov Now app:
I got in two sessions of ~14 minutes of exercise (plus warmup/cool down) today – probably close to an hour with warm up and cool downs so this isn’t really time-consuming. I’m over halfway through this week!
