Today marks one week since I started this journey. I call it a journey because this is not a diet. I am not trying to lose weight, I am trying to holistically change unhealthy patterns in a way that is maintainable for the long term. When I stepped on the scale this morning, I weighed 335.3. That means I officially lost 7.9 pounds in week 1.
A lot of people have asked for more specifics on what I am doing, so here is a graphic of a typical day:
I’m not personally a big fan of breakfast, and I have never been. I’m perfectly happy to skip breakfast most days, but that usually leaves me really hungry at lunch and I eat more than I should (and often low-quality foods.) With the Ningxia Red, I find that I am not overly hungry and am able to select real foods and be satisfied.
Yes, I have lost almost 8 pounds in the first week, but more importantly, it did not feel like a big change. This feels like something that I can maintain. I haven’t felt like I am giving up anything, in fact, I ate pizza for dinner – twice this week. I also ate at Moe’s Southwest Grill twice this week (big fan of the Wrong Doug) and also had lunch at Chick-Fil-A one day (went with the Southwest Chargrilled Salad.) I’ve modified my typical choices somewhat by always drinking water and not soda or sweet tea. I’ve also been less hungry, so I find myself eating less that I normally would.
I’ve also made an effort to get out and be active, whether it is chopping wood or playing basketball with my daughter.
I still have a long way to go, but if the changes I make can become permanent life changes I believe this will be something that I can stick with.
I weighed in today at 335.3 pounds. Here are all the additional details from my iHealth Core wireless scale with some goals I set based on various benchmarks I could find:
